On December 23, 2024, the President signed H.R. 8663: DETECT Fentanyl and Xylazine Act of 2024 into law.
This legislation mandates the Department of Homeland Security to develop tools capable of:
- Detecting and identifying drugs with minimal or no sample handling.
- Precisely identifying drugs by separating complex mixtures with low concentrations.
