R&D Scientist / Senior R&D Scientist at Analytical Detection LLC in Lake Forest, CA Analytical Detection LLC has an opening for a full-time Research & Development Scientist to support the development and characterization of our Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS)-based explosive and narcotics trace detection technology. Last year, we introduced our first product – the explosive trace detection system “BeagleX™ 100”. The development of BeagleX™ 100 was focused on achieving substantially superior resolving power and accuracy with lower production and operational costs than current commercial trace detectors in the explosives, narcotics and elicit materials market space. This was accomplished by employing novel engineering methods and a ground-up approach, using the latest cutting-edge technology, to produce a truly modernized trace detection system unlike anything developed to date. The Research & Development Scientist will work closely with our cross-functional engineering team and be expected to lead instrumentation design through multiple development phases from a conceptual idea to early manufacturing. Research & Development Scientist will be required to participate in technical design reviews, drafting of proposals, peer-reviewed articles and patent applications, support certification efforts and also to attend industry conferences. Required Qualifications: • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics or related engineering or science disciplines • Significant hands-on experience with engineering prototyping and troubleshooting of ion mobility or mass spectrometry systems • Willingness to work in a startup environment • Must be authorized to work in the US.
