LAKE FOREST, Calif., September 25, 2026 – Analytical Detection LLC, a developer of next-generation explosives and narcotics trace detection systems, today announced that its United Kingdom subsidiary, Analytical Detection Ltd, has been selected to receive competitive grant funding through the UK Department for Transport’s High Assurance Detection Systems (HADeS) 2026 Program.

The award supports the company’s proposal, “Inductive Flash Desorption for Inorganic Explosive Detection,” which addresses a critical limitation of conventional explosives trace detection systems: the difficulty of detecting low-volatility inorganic energetic materials, including chlorates, perchlorates, inorganic oxidizers, and pyrotechnic compositions.

Analytical Detection’s High-Temperature Inductive Flash Desorption technology uses a conductive metallic sampling substrate heated directly by electromagnetic induction. The system can reach temperatures approaching 700°C within approximately five seconds and cool to near-ambient temperature in approximately one second. This rapid heating enables efficient desorption of substances that are difficult to analyze using conventional methods.

Unlike acid-assisted chemical-conversion approaches, the technology requires no chemical reagents, added moisture, moving parts, or routine consumables. It is designed to remain compatible with established explosives trace detection workflows while reducing operational complexity and maintenance requirements.
